Oh Alexandria, how I remember thee
Virgin port of the Middle Sea
Harbors inviting, nurturing and sustaining
The mind of all knowledge
Come to me again with air of salt, incense and floral beauties
Bring the Egyptian sun to warm my heart again
Hear the voices proclaim most holy philosophies
And the eyes to most sacred papyri
In it's library walls
May I lose myself in the maze of your streets
To greet your courtesans and merchants
Before sailing again....

So beautiful! I am transported!
ReplyDeleteReally evokes a feeling of knowledge, liveliness, and commerce. The physical Alexandria is more or less like that.
